On May 26, actress Hwang Jung-eum officially concluded her divorce proceedings with her husband, Mr. Lee, following a mediation decision finalized by the family court.
Her agency, Y1 Entertainment, released a statement confirming the amicable resolution, stating, “Hwang Jung-eum’s divorce proceedings have been amicably concluded with the family court’s mediation decision finalized.”

In response to earlier reports about the provisional seizure of Hwang Jung-eum’s real estate during the legal process, the agency clarified, “During the divorce proceedings, both parties took steps to preserve their joint marital assets, which is a standard procedure in such cases.”
Y1 Entertainment also issued an apology, saying, “We sincerely apologize for unintentionally causing concern due to various issues during the actor’s divorce process. We will do our utmost to swiftly resolve the remaining legal matters related to Hwang Jung-eum’s personal corporation.”
Hwang Jung-eum and Mr. Lee initially tied the knot in 2016. Though they announced their separation in 2020 and began divorce proceedings, the couple later reconciled and welcomed their second child. However, in 2023, they began a second round of legal proceedings to officially end their marriage. During this time, Hwang Jung-eum stirred public attention by posting social media messages alluding to Mr. Lee’s alleged infidelity.

Hwang Jung-eum admitted to embezzling about 4.34 billion won ($3.1 million) from her agency in 2022 to invest in cryptocurrency. She called her actions “hasty and immature,” expressed remorse, and has repaid much of the amount through selling personal assets, with plans to clear the rest.
The scandal led to her removal from SBS Plus’s Because I’m Single finale and loss of endorsement deals, including with Daesang Wellife Nucare. A court hearing in August will review her repayment progress and determine further legal actions.
As Hwang Jung-eum continues to navigate her personal and legal challenges, the public awaits further updates on her case and potential return to the entertainment industry.
